Christian Davis
Seventh/Eighth Grade
Christian Davis earned his BA in American Studies from Eckerd college before completing a Masters of Liberal Studies at the City University of New York. He completed his Waldorf grades teacher training in 2001, around the same time he had begun the work of growing the fledging Suncoast Waldorf School in Clearwater, FL. There, Christian graduated the first class of 8th graders after taking a combined 7th/8th through from 1st grade. Christian’s next foray in the Waldorf movement was as a high school history teacher at Green Meadow Waldorf School. There he was lucky enough to learn under the mentorship of master teacher, John Wulsin. As a teacher, Christian strives to provide an education that is responsive to the life of the classroom, an education born out of the meeting of the teacher, student and parent, an education that can allow the magic mystery of the classroom unfold. Though Christian thoroughly enjoyed the intellectual education of the high school, he always missed the active, artistic work of educating the feeling life. In addition, the mountains had been calling. He was fortunate enough to be able to move with his wife, Mary Robbins, and three children, Rowan, Ethan and Magnolia, to their property near Waynesville, NC, where he can be found using any spare time to rebuild their 1920’s log cabin. When not teaching, Christian has been known to spend his time playing music, building mandolins, fly fishing, homesteading, foraging with his family, farming, or working on his car.
