ERIKA CARRELL

Erika’s Waldorf journey began when she started attending parent and child class in 2012 at the Waldorf school of Garden City (WSGC) in New York with her 2 year old son. She had been a physical therapist since college but before she had her son made a career switch and obtained a Master’s degree in teaching. Erika realized after a short while of being immersed in the nourishing Waldorf community that this was the path of teaching she was being called to travel.

Erika wore many hats at the WSGC as an intern, substitute and assistant in various early childhood classrooms. She finally felt she had found her true passion in life, a feeling she never experienced but always craved in the many years working as a physical therapist. She decided to pursue this path of lifelong learning and enrolled in the Waldorf early childhood teacher training program at Sunbridge Institute in June of 2020. Erika hopes to graduate next summer.

She and her family moved to Western North Carolina last March and they are all thrilled to be a part of our Waldorf community here. Her children attend AWS and are in Nursery, 4th and 6th grades. She is so grateful for this amazing opportunity to learn from your dear children and help to nurture them, while being guided along by the AWS staff on this new venture.
