MORGAN HINCKS

From a young age, Morgan found herself most at home among the trees, mountains, and wild coasts of New England. She began connecting with children in the natural world at nature centers, educational farms, and summer camps when she was a young 16-year-old. She continued her studies in Environmental Education at the University of Vermont, where she earned a Bachelor of Science.

Post-college, Morgan studied Biodynamic agriculture and permaculture at farms all over the world. She eventually settled in Carbondale, Colorado, where her Biodynamic farming Internship steered her towards a job in the Kindergarten at the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork.

A move to Asheville in 2009, with a longing to homestead, ensued, and the arrival of two sons, Aster and Mica. Since moving to Asheville, Morgan has worked as the Lead Kindergarten teacher at AWS, nursery assistant, games teacher, permanent substitute, and finally, the Lead Dandelion Nursery teacher. Morgan is beyond grateful for the long list of master teachers she has been able to work with over the years. She is trained in Early Childhood education through Lifeways North America and considers herself a lifelong student; her children and students are her favorite teachers!

You can find Morgan singing to and foraging plants and mushrooms, playing guitar, making herbal remedies, philosophizing, and gardening in her free time.
