Maria ALLEN

Maria has been learning and working in Waldorf Schools since 2006, and she is passionate about sharing the magic of Waldorf education!  She began at a Waldorf-inspired charter school – Winterberry (Anchorage, AK).  She then studied Waldorf Education at Taruna College (Havelock North, New Zealand) and then through LifeWays/Asheville.  Maria also holds a degree in Music Education (Elementary Music Education and Choral Conducting) from Converse College (South Carolina, USA).  

Maria is a founding member at Asheville Waldorf School and has served on the faculty/staff every year since the school opened.  She has previously taught Prenatal/Newborn classes, Parent-child classes, Nursery, Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, and Music in Asheville. She has also served as a Mentor to other teachers at Asheville Waldorf School and in the LifeWays/Asheville training.  Maria has taught parents and teachers through LifeWays/Asheville, LifeWays/Jacksonville, and Rudolf Steiner College’s Community Learning Center in Anchorage, AK. 

With her dear husband, Butch, and their delightful children, Perry and Maisie, Maria enjoys homesteading in Barnardsville. Besides her family, some of her favorite things are traveling, tandem biking, swimming, contra-dancing, painting, and singing.
