Immunization Policy

At Asheville Waldorf School our students’ overall health is always a priority and concern. Like all public and private schools in NC, our school follows immunization requirements put in place by the North Carolina State Board of Education. As an associate member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North American and like all other Waldorf Schools, we are compliant with national, state and local laws. We also recognize that a parent’s decision to immunize their children happens before they enter school. At Asheville Waldorf School we support our families, we love our students, we love our city and we are grateful for our community.

REQUIREMENTS FOR OUR PROGRAM:

The State requires all students to be immunized before attending school. It also requires schools to submit immunization records to the state for tracking. Families who have not submitted immunization records by the 30th day of instruction will be excluded from school.

You can find the immunization schedule for children here:  Childhood Immunization Schedule

In North Carolina, vaccination records are checked when a child is enrolled in a childcare facility or school. Children are not allowed to attend school (whether public, private, or religious) or a childcare facility unless they have received all required immunizations appropriate for their age.

The state does allow for medical and religious exemptions. For the state’s exemption policy and forms, please visit the NC Department of Public Health website.
