ELIZABETH ERB
Fifth Grade
Elizabeth holds a BS in Nursing, graduated from The Whole You School of Massage Therapy and Body Work, has worked wildcrafting herbs and seaweed and with organic growers, and owned and operated her own catering business and taught cooking. She studied handwork Grades One through Six at Fiber Craft Studio in Chestnut Ridge, NY, and completed her Waldorf Grades Teacher training at Steiner College in Sacramento, CA. She served as the Handwork teacher at Asheville Waldorf School for two years before taking the First Grade class in 2016. A teacher by nature, becoming a Waldorf teacher was her destined path that grew out of a lifetime of diverse experiences. Elizabeth pours these into crafting a rich and enlivening learning environment for her students. She believes that growing the capacity to “create out of one’s own forces” is paramount, and seeks daily to evoke the love of learning in her students. Passionate about the Waldorf curriculum, Elizabeth meets the unfolding destiny of the children with curiosity and strives to find ways to nourish the indwelling spirit of each child as challenges and growing strains arise. Elizabeth hails from Texas and New Mexico, and came to Asheville 20 years ago. Her varied interests have called her to travel in Japan, India, the Yukon, and South America. She enjoys tinkering, sewing, hiking, gardening, beekeeping, collecting wood to build simple furnishings, and listening to stories.
