TARA GEORGES

Tara is a mother of three who discovered Waldorf Education over 10 years ago while looking for the right home away from home for her first child.  She instantly connected with the spirit of Waldorf Education, and was comforted to find a space where her children would be nurtured through a reverence for nature, humanity, healthy food, and outdoor time. In Waldorf, she found teachers who were devoted to nourishing the whole child. As she watched her children grow, the developmentally appropriate education Waldorf provided was rich and beautiful. Tara was eager to learn more and became part of the Waldorf parent community that worked together to participate in parent meetings, workshops, festivals and fundraisers. She loved being part of a family that had fun together while supporting the children and their school.   

Tara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Binghamton University in NY, a Master of Science in Special Education from Queens College in NY, and an Advanced Certificate in School Administration from Queens College. She was a teacher for over 20 years serving students from elementary through middle school. She also served in many administrative roles including chairing committees, task forces, and Building Curriculum Groups, as well as building and directing self funded theater programs for students. She is participating in Waldorf Development Forums to help her better serve our community. 

Tara recently moved to Asheville with her husband and children, and loves gardening, traveling, singing, and hiking.
