BEGIN THE JOURNEY

Below you will see the specific steps necessary to apply, organized based on the child’s stage of development. You may submit an application at any time during the school year. We have an open enrollment policy, which means that when space becomes available, the school will immediately fill it from the waiting pool.

Parent Child Classes

Registration is open for the Fall ’23 Parent Child Classes. 

Winter/Spring ‘24 Registration opens November 1, 2023.

Nursery & Kindergarten

  1.  Inquiry
  2. Application – submitted in TADS under Admissions, $50 application fee. 
      • See our age eligibility for ’22-’23 and ’23-’24 to ensure you apply for the appropriate class.
      • Submit your application between February 16 – March 15 for Priority Consideration.
      • Note:  If the class to which you apply is full, your application will join the Wait Pool.  Admissions will continue once a space opens.
  3. Meeting – between the teacher and parents.
  4. School Visit 
      • The prospective student comes for a classroom visit with one parent. 
      • By April 20th families will be notified of acceptance.   

Grades 1-8

    1.  Inquiry
        • Attend an Open House or Admissions Information Session for Grades 1-8 to learn about AWS. 
    2. Application – submitted in TADS under Admissions, $50 application fee. 
        • See our age eligibility for ’22-’23 and ’23-’24 to ensure you apply for the appropriate class.
          • Submit your application between January 16- January 31 for Priority Admissions. 
          • Check NC Opportunity Scholarship Eligibility  (Priority Application Period: 2/1- 3/1)  
          • Note:  If the class to which you apply is full, your application will join the Wait Pool.  Admissions will continue once a space opens.
    3. Meeting – between the teacher and parents.
    4. School Visit 
      • Grades 2-8:  The prospective student comes for a three-day trial.
      • Grade 1: First-grade applicants complete a Readiness Assessment with our Educational Support Director and meet individually with the teacher.

      By March 20, most* families will be notified of acceptance.   

      *By April 10, First Grade families will be notified of acceptance; this delay allows for 1st Grade Readiness Assessments

    ENROLLMENT:

    Enrollment

    Enrollment Agreement– completed through TADS

        • An email from TADS will share enrollment instructions with the family if the child is accepted. 
        • Complete the Enrollment Registration (in TADS under Enrollment).
        • Pay the Enrollment Fee (in TADS under Enrollment)
          • Bridge – $200,
          • Nursery – $400,
          • Kindergarten & Grades – $500

    Tuition Assistance (When Applicable)

    Tuition Agreement

    • Sign the Tuition Agreement prior to start: emailed to you, sign in TADS under Agreements. Date depends on time of year enrolling.
